This summer sees in the Province of Verona the first edition of a new musical event, the Festival Riflessi del Garda, organised by the Niccolò Piccinni ODV Fund, which will take place from 30 June to 8 July at the Lido Campanello in Castelnuovo del Garda (30 June, 1 and 2 July), the Santuario della Madonna del Frassino in Peschiera del Garda (7 July) and the Ristorante Il Pirlàr at the Golf Club Paradiso del Garda in Castelnuovo del Garda (8 July).

The programme is divided into three main areas: music, dance and literature, and includes eight evenings with great names and rising stars of the international opera scene in a chamber music concert, two recitals, an organ and brass quintet, a dance gala and three meetings with writers in conversation with the Festival’s Artistic Director and President of the Maximilien Seren-Piccinni Fund, accompanied by tastings of local wines; all crowned by the 41st Piccinni Prize award ceremony at the end of the Festival.

The evenings are always different, aimed at residents, holidaymakers and tourists who flock to the shores of Lake Garda in the summer, with programmes ranging from concerts and baroque symphonies to sophisticated compositions of the Neapolitan school of music, from opera seria to opera buffa; and again, from repertory ballet to neoclassical and contemporary choreographies, to the gypsy-Andalusian sounds of flamenco, and then to the pages of books and writings that, between prose and poetry, are closely linked to the world of music and entertainment.

A moment from the Press Conference

The Festival Riflessi del Garda has, in fact, a dual purpose, in line with the organising body’s mission: on the one hand, with unprecedented performances and staging, to promote the rediscovery of the immense production of the 18th-century composer Niccolò Piccinni and the composers of his time, such as Pietro Torri, a native of Peschiera del Garda, with an eye also open to contemporary production, while also promoting research in the art of choreography; on the other, to take shape as a new opportunity for professional growth for young artists and performers, also thanks to the scholarships provided by the Fund to support deserving rising stars in economic difficulty.

During the first three evenings of the Festival, a Wine Corner dedicated to the wines of the territory by Cantine Vitevis will be available from 8 p.m. until the end of the show, where it will also be possible to taste the ‘Wines of the Festival’ and thus contribute to the support of the mission of the Niccolò Piccinni Fund; in fact, part of the proceeds from the sale of each glass will be donated by Vitevis to the Fund in support of its institutional activities.

The literary terraces are free and free of charge while seats last.

The performances at the Lido Campanello are admission by donation with a minimum donation of € 10.00, the concert Tra Umano e Divino at the Santuario della Madonna del Frassino is free admission subject to availability; finally, to participate in the Piccinni Gala 2023 at the Golf Club Paradiso del Garda a minimum donation of € 85.00 is required with compulsory booking.

In case of bad weather, the 30/06, 1/07 and 2/07 performances will be held at the DIM Theatre, in via San Martino 4, Castelnuovo del Garda.
