A great solidarity race in the Adige Park to give a home and a new life to women victims of violence: this is the date for the “Angels in Run #piùlucealledonne“, which will return on Sunday 16 April (seventh edition) from 9:30 to 12:30 p.m. at Corte Molon (Via della Diga 17). A date that coincides with the Sustainable Sunday promoted by the Veneto Region.

The event closes the packed programme of the 8th of March “Revolution is a Woman” and aims to raise funds to support the Autonomy Project, an initiative of the Protezione della Giovane di Verona (Protection of Young Women of Verona), which every year takes in women fleeing violent partners. The project provides economic support for the purchase of furniture, household appliances and anything else that the women need to start a new life after a long stay in the shelter.

Everyone can take part in the race, from those who prefer to walk to those who prefer to pedal, following the bicycle procession from Corte Molon, in the Parco dell’Adige Nord, to Castelvecchio, where the finish line is planned.

There are three routes to choose from: 2, 7 and 10 km. The entry fee is 12 euros and includes the race kit with the exclusive event jersey (reserved for the first 1.000 registered participants), race number, insurance, refreshment service, assistance and free photos. Groups of 10 or more paying participants will receive free entry.

You can register on the website https://www.angelsinrun.it/evento/ and choose the online mode with electronic payment or go to one of the authorised points of sale in Verona and the province (Verona Marathon Hub and Corte Molon in Verona, Km Sport in Bussolengo and San Martino Buon Albergo, Quota 3000 in Villafranca, La Grande Mela in Sona and MB Sport in Garda). Children under the age of 14 will be admitted free of charge (without kit), but must be accompanied by an adult.

Barbara Bissoli, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Verona and Councillor for Gender Equality, said at the launch of the event: “This is an important initiative to strengthen the housing of women who want to rebuild their daily lives in a home that must become a real home. We need to find opportunities for freedom away from daily work, precisely to meet and refresh ourselves, and this is an extraordinary opportunity“.
