Today, May 5, the first edition of the City Festival “Verona Europa” – “Verona is Europe”. Until May 30, in the symbolic places of the city of Verona, a review of events that will bring the attention to Europe and its the link with Verona.
Verona Éuropa is the first festival of the city about the European Union. Born from the collaboration between Municipality, Province and University, it also has the patronage of the largest European institutions, the Parliament and the Commission. The contribution made by each of the agencies has encouraged the creation of a heterogeneous program of events and themes, many of which are designed especially for young people. In fact, conferences will not be the only way of interaction. There will be also concerts, quizzes, simulations of the European Parliament, workshops… A month full of opportunities for anyone who wants to approach or deepen the theme of Europe.
And the date of May 5 is not just any date. Today marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Council of Europe, which aims to protect human rights and democracy. For this reason, at 17.15 the Falcone e Borsellino room of the Faculty of Law will host a meeting dedicated to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict with a focus on the role of the European Union for a European defence policy, “War in Ukraine and European defence policy”.
Another important date will be May 9, the Europe Day with which we commemorate the signing of the “Schuman Declaration” of 1950. Also, on this occasion people will have the opportunity to fully understand how the Feast of Europe was born between performances and concerts.
