A landmark week for Verona’s LGBTQ+ community. Yesterday, there was a meeting with Mayor Tommasi, who opened the municipality’s doors to the Rainbow Families, whose representatives can now be part of the Municipal Council of the family for the first time ever. The mayor also stated that from now on, requests for transcripts to the Registry of children of same-sex couples will be handled directly by him, who will examine them on a case-by-case basis. And today there was the Pride presentation, which will take place on Saturday, July 8th.

The Pride parade will begin at 16.00 from Piazza Bra and will culminate at the San Bernardino Bastions with the Pride Mura Fest. Thousands of colorful people will parade from all over the city and beyond, carrying banners, billboards, and flags depicting shades of variety.

“The Pride of Verona 2023 is more than just a party. It is also a moment to reflect on the obstacles that the LGBTQ+ community still faces and to renew commitment to the battle for equality. – stated Luigi Turri, head of the Verona-based organization Pianeta Milk – Rights are not everlasting, and it is our responsibility to safeguard them. This is the true purpose of this event”.
