Ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Fiera del Riso for the Taste of Earth international pavilion. More than fifty exhibitors from many countries will be present in Isola della Scala (province of Verona) with gastronomic products, handicrafts, and traditions from many nations. A global window on the world.

The inauguration of the Internationalisation pavillon was marked by a political and institutional presence and took place in an immersion of dances, sounds and ethnic flavours. “Taste of Earth is an important step involving Ente Fiera and the entire community of Isola della Scala, an opportunity for our culture and products to be discovered by the world” said Roberto Venturi, CEO of Ente Fiera di Isola della Scala. “As well as the participating nations, they bring their gastronomic specialities, handicrafts, art and shows. It is a unique opportunity for different cultures to meet. We talk to many countries that are curious to discover our typical products“.

Guest country for the 2023 edition is Iran, which will return to the Fiera del Riso in a 300 square metre space inside the covered Rice Centre. “A culture of taste and not only“, explains Abdolreza Mir Fakhraei, head of the Iranian Tourist Board for Italy and sole director of Cice (International Centre for Foreign Trade), “Iran is a country five and a half times the size of Italy, with a population of 82 million. Here at Isola della Scala we are bringing food, recipes and customs through chefs, craftsmen, artists, musicians and dancers. During the days of the fair, about 80 people will present the millennia-old Iranian culture in 360 degrees, inviting visitors to participate in our workshops. The idea is to create an experience“. Rice is the basis of some Iranian delicacies such as zereshk polo, adas polo, tahchin morgh and kabab, which will be tasted thanks to the presence of two chefs and two cooking stations in the pavilion. “We are going to create a real partnership between Italy and Iran, a rapprochement in food” continues Mir Fakhraei. “Thanks to the collaboration with the Consortium for the Protection of IGP Riso Nano Vialone Veronese, we will show our way of interpreting Veronese rice in Persian dishes“.
