Lectures on philosophy, literature, and art, theatrical monologues, concerts, and national premieres: the 11th Festival della Bellezza (Beauty’s festival) officially began on June 3rd with Melania Mazzucco, and there are still 40 events planned in 21 famous venues, with Verona’s Teatro Romano serving as a focal point.

A number of notable Italian intellectuals will be protagonists, including Alessandro D’Avenia, Sonia Bergamasco, Roberto Vecchioni, Massimo Recalcati, Stefania Auci, Federico Buffa, Morgan, Lella Costa, Aldo Cazzullo, Umberto Galimberti, Antonio Caprarica, Arianna Porcelli Safonov, Flavio Caroli, Alessandro Bergonzoni, Igor Sibaldi, Barbara Stefanelli, Giordano Bruno Guerri, Beppe Severgnini, Stefano Massini, Guia Soncini, Aldo Grasso, Massimo Cacciari, Chiara Gamberale, and Matteo Garrone.

The Festival della Bellezza’s venues

The Festival, centered on the concept of “art within art,” expands its venues to 21 symbolic locations of Italian cultural tradition, ranging from the classical world (Templi di Selinunte, Grotte di Catullo), medieval and Renaissance works (such as Leonardo’s Last Supper), 18th-century masterpieces (such as the Teatro Bibiena), to iconic 20th-century works like Il Vittoriale and Il Cretto di Burri.

The Teatro Romano in Verona will be the main venue for events that will span from the shores of Lake Garda, in the 16th-century Villa Guarienti in Brenzone at Punta San Vigilio (Verona), to the grand frescoed hall of the medieval Palazzo della Ragione in Padova, to the Memoriale Brion, a masterpiece by Carlo Scarpa blending modernism and oriental philosophies.

Other events will take place in historical villas and gardens, such as Villa Mosconi Bertani and Villa Guerrieri Rizzardi in Negrar di Valpolicella (Verona). This edition features a journey through Palladio’s most famous works, with events at the Teatro Olimpico (Roma) and the Basilica Palladiana (Vicenza), and for the first time, at Villa La Rotonda in Vicenza and Villa Barbaro, frescoed by Paolo Veronese.
