Sustainability, climate change, constant monitoring of the evolution of the national and international market as well as the consumer are the key words of this new mandate, for which I thank the Board – comments the re-elected President Christian Marchesini -. New challenging scenarios await us for Valpolicella starting from the consolidation of the green transition, which today accounts for 33% of the total of vineyards. A perspective – continues Marchesini – closely connected to the climatic variables, with all the unknowns also productive that this will involve in the future.

In terms of global demand for Valpolicella wines – concludes Christian Marchesini – it will be necessary to investigate and explore the new demands and consumption dynamics of wine lovers in the different markets to maintain the denomination’s position, growth and profitability. Among the objectives also the amendment of the Statute of the Consortium to make it up to date with the times opening to the active participation of the Gruppo Giovani – Youth Group – of the institution, the first in Italy to have it set up in the key of comparison for new interpretations of tomorrow’s Valpolicella”.

Christian Marchesini, owner of the Monte Gradella farm in Fumane di Valpolicella, is a ‘man of territory’ with a long experience in the Consortium in which he sat as director from 2005 to 2012, when he was appointed president. In 2014 he was re-elected to the presidency. In the elections of the following three years, Marchesini did not submit his candidacy. He has returned president of the Valpolicella Wine Consortium in July 2020.
